UNCLE RICHARD

Intergenerational learning – The Wars of the Roses

Our standard package to Schools for Uncle Richard is as follows.

CONTENT

One performance workshop (1hr)– Expanding on the interactive part of the play. Pupils create a living tableaux of the Plantagenet Family tree as they participate in The Wars of the Roses. A fun workshop illustrating the many family connections and summarising the major events of the conflict from Edward III to Henry VII. Pupils learn along with the actors in character as a young Henry VIII and his tutor John Skelton. We are also happy to create workshops to cater to your own learning objectives but this may increase costs.

Other workshop options for older students include hot-seating the Tudors, examining reliability of primary sources, creating possible reconstructions of the disappearance of the Princes in the Tower based on historical sources,  or comparison of historical facts with Shakespeare’s Richard III.

After School Performance – The full play of Uncle Richard is 1hr 20mins long and is suitable for family audiences. We offer a twilight performance at the end of the school day which creates an opportunity for schools to engage with parents and their wider community. We are also happy for you to sell tickets to this performance as a means of raising school funds. The performance does not have to be after school hours but we do recommend that schools try to invite parents and family as it creates a very different learning space for children to learn alongside adults.
